Once you have a good understanding of your own values, interests, and skills, it’s time to INVESTIGATE various careers in order to find some that will be a great match for you. Use the following tools to discover jobs commonly associated with particular majors, learn about salary, duties, and growth for a huge array of careers, and even to find new occupations that you didn’t even know existed.
Your major is a significant part of your academic experience at SOU, so we encourage you to select a program that is a good fit for your interests, skills, values, and goals. Keep in mind, though, that what you learn in your major will be complemented by your other coursework, certificates, internships, study abroad experiences, and extracurriculars. What’s more, every SOU major teaches you to think critically and creatively, perform research effectively, and communicate your ideas clearly — skills that will serve you well whatever your path after graduation.
It can feel like there are an infinite number of occupations in the world, which makes choosing the right one overwhelming. After identifying your own unique skills, interests, and values using the various assessments in the Exploration tab, it’s important to find out as much as you can about the career paths that appeal to you. Investigate Graduate School
An undergraduate degree is a huge accomplishment and an important step towards reaching your career aspirations—and ensuring career mobility. But further education in a master’s and/or doctoral program may be something that will serve you well and allow you to have an even greater impact in your chosen field. The resources on the Graduate School page will help you learn about the graduate school admissions process, find schools that offer programs of interest, prepare for admissions tests, and identify funding sources.
